Work on the up-grade of Foy Pitch commenced in July
06. The work is being done by Clive Jeffers of ITI Sports turf.
Clive and his team have installed a drainage
system over 2,500 sq meters long.
All existing grass has been removed off
entire pitch and levels have been restored.
The left hand side of the pitch has been
rejuvenated bringing it into play.
200 tons of suitable sand has been spread in
two directions and seeding will take place later this month.
The pitch is now in the final stages of completion. A layer of
special sand now covers the whole pitch and seeding will take place this
early October 2006.
The new Foy pitch was the venue for the third annual Ian Corrigan
Memorial Cup Match. Ian played for both Carlingford Celtic and Rathcor
Rovers and on Friday the 22nd of June 2007 these same two teams played
in Carlingford specially in Ian's honour. This was the first match
played on the new pitch which saw the Rathcor Rovers take victory over
Carlingford Celtic.
